A Short Recap of Apple’s ‘It’s GlowTime’ Event — Everything You Need To Know Before Pulling Out Your Wallet!

As the 101-minute-long Apple Event ended highlighting the launch of the new iPhone 16 lineup along with some Apple Watches and AirPods, the first thought that crossed my mind was that this could have been a shorter event, for sure.

Source: WSJ

The event was more like a revision of the last year’s iPhone 15 keynote and the WWDC’24 keynote this year. All Apple Intelligence features were discussed just to remind us of their existence before some exclusive ones were announced with a promise of a ‘Fall release’. Also, many of the products they launched could have easily been just a press release.

But I am sure, you still have something that got you excited during this event and are probably thinking of pre-ordering. Or maybe you didn’t watch this keynote at all. In that case, without further adieu and spoiling anything of the fun, let’s dive into what Apple announced during their recent ‘It’s GlowTime’ event so you can decide if the new launches are worth your money.

⌚️ Apple Watch

Apple Watch Series 10

Biggest Display, Thinnest Design

-Tim Cook

  • Comes in new 42mm and 46mm sizes

  • 30% more screen area than the previous Series 6 design and somewhat more than the Ultra model too. A new Wide-Angle OLED display which is 40% brighter around the edges for better viewing across different angles.

  • A new Jet Black Apple Watch finish. Remember, the Jet Black iPhone 7 and the key/coin scratches that ruined it? This won’t happen with the new watch as they used the rigorous anodization process just like they did for the new Space Black M3 MacBooks.

  • A thinner design — Just 9.7mm in thickness. Thats 1mm down from previous series models.

  • Polished Titanium replaces Stainless Steel. 20% lighter than stainless steel than series 9.

  • 80% charge in just 30 minutes now.

  • The new S10 chip has a 4-core neural engine which will be used for Background Noise Reduction during calls and Sleep Apnea Detection.

  • Sleep Apnea Detection [available in 150+ counties and regions]. Will be available with Series 9 and Ultra 2 so it’s not exclusive to Series 10.

  • Built-in depth gauge (6m/20ft) and water-temperature sensing within the Depth app for swimmers and divers

  • A new Tides app for alerting about high tides, low tides, sunrises, and sunsets across shorelines around the world. Again, not exclusive to just Series 10 watches.

  • Starts at $399 for the 42mm WiFi model with Aluminium Finish.

Apple Watch Ultra 2 gets a Satin Black Titanium finish. A New Black Titanium Milanese Watchband joins the existing three Ultra bands which also get new color options. Hermes Edition of Apple Watch Ultra joins the lineup too. The price remains the same at $799.

Basically, no Apple Watch Ultra 3.

🎧 AirPods

AirPods 4

  • Somewhat refined AirPods 3 buds design but almost the same.

  • USB-C Charging Case.

  • A variant of the new AirPods 4 now supports Active Noise Cancelling, Transparency Mode, Adaptive Audio, and Conversation Awareness and also houses speakers on the charging case for FindMy.

  • ANC Variant costs $179 while the non-ANC ones cost $129.

AirPods Max [Hardware Changes]

  • USB-C charging

  • New Finishes: Midnight, Starlight, Blue, Orange & Purple

  • The same $549 price
